I read like a fiend ;) I believe most people should and all writers must. But life gets in the way. Ironically, creating books takes a lot of time away from reading them. Wait, is that irony?
Anyway, in 2023, I've read the least amount of books in years, ages. Nevertheless, I still managed, just barely, hit 300. Behold the photographic evidence below, amended to reflect Goodreads miscalculation.
And here's my tentative "Best of 2023" list:
scary: Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Devils' Playground by Craig Russell
Knock, Knock, Open Wide by Neil Shapson
Feed Them Silence by Lee Mandelo
sci-fi: The Future by Naomi Alderman
And Put Away Childish Things by Adrian Tchaikovsky
The Circumference of the World by Lavie Tidhar
On Earth as in on Tevelvision by Emily Jane
Foe by Iain Reid
mix: Dyatlov Pass by Alan K. Baker
Out There by Kate Folk
non-fiction: The Future of Geography by Tim Marshall
Edison's Ghosts by Katie Spalding
Women of Myth by Jenny
literary: My Dirty California by Jason Mosberg
graphic novels: The Fade Out by Ed Brubaker
The Department of Truth series by James Tynion IV
and the absolutely winner for most entertainment had while reading was the Killing Eve trilogy by Luke Jennings
